Park Synagogue is a 138 year old Congregation,
a major conservative synagogue both locally and nationally.
A decision was taken to build a second campus
in addition to their home on Mayfield road in Cleveland, Ohio.
With the vision and skill of
the Centerbrook Architects of Connecticut, Mark Simon and Ed Keagle,
a magnificent new structure was erected on Shaker Boulevard in Pepper Pike.

The silver ark doors and the silver art work embellishing
the sanctuary of the new Park Synagogue building
were designed and created in Jerusalem, Israel in 2004/5
by the Yemini Silversmiths.
In Hebrew we call the synagogue Beit Knesset
~ a place of gathering ~
which emphasizes not the nature of its use, but the community that uses it.

Deuteronomy 8:8 describes the land of Israel
as a “land of wheat and barley, of (grape) vines, figs and
pomegranates, a land of olives for oil and (date) honey.”

The motif of the ‘seven species’ signifies the bounty
Israel is blessed with and represents many functional
and spiritual aspects of our heritage and of our land.
